Author Tom Clancy dies at 66

Best-selling novelist Tom Clancy died Oct. 1 at age 66 at a hospital in Baltimore, according to the New York Times.

Seventeen of his novels were No. 1-ranked New York Times best sellers, including his most recent, “Threat Vector,” released in December 2012. More than 100 million copies of his books are in print.

A millionaire through the sale of his military thriller novels, the cause of Clancy's death is unknown.
