The Aunt Jemima pancake mix and syrup brand is getting a new name.
Quaker Oats announced the product line would be renamed to Pearl Milling Co. It's a reference to a company formed in 1888 in St. Joseph, Missouri, that was the originator of self-rising pancake mix.
Quaker Oats officials said last year the company would retire the Aunt Jemima brand because the character’s origins are “based on a racial stereotype.”
