A report yesterday from Missouri Auditor Nicole Galloway found taxpayers spent $201,300 on legal fees for former Gov. Eric Greitens in the months leading up to his resignation.
The fees are specifically related to Greitens' defense of his use of the self-destructing text message app Confide. Greitens and his staff were accused in a lawsuit of using Confide to evade the state's open record laws.
The audit only covers Greitens' time in office. It's unclear how much the state has spent on legal fees regarding the lawsuit since then.
