A partner of a Springfield law firm has been hired as the new probate commissioner for the 31st Judicial Circuit Court in Greene County.
A special session of the 31st Circuit Court en Banc called by Greene County Circuit Court Presiding Judge Jerry Harmison made the appointment of Holly Clouse yesterday, according to a news release provided by the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association.
"It is a compliment to our Bar Association that we had extremely qualified applicants," said Circuit Judge Todd Myers, who chaired the search committee, in the release. "We look forward to having Holly Clouse join our team of judicial officers."
Clouse is succeeding longtime Probate Commissioner Carol Aiken, who is set to retire Aug. 31 after holding the role since 1997.
The probate division of the 31st Judicial Circuit has statutory authority over the estates of deceased persons and incapacitated or disabled adults and minors, as well as cases involving wills and trusts, among others, according to GreeneCountyCourts.org.
Clouse currently is a partner at Hamburg, Lyons & Clouse LLC, focusing on probate and trust administration, estate planning and other services, according to the law firm's website. She was admitted to practice law in 2011.
