Attorney general sues New York telemarketers

Posted online
Attorney General Chris Koster yesterday sued two New York telemarketing companies for allegedly violating Missouri's no-call laws.

The companies, which are both based in Staten Island, are Predictivedialernow Inc., and owner Karen Wright, and Salesdialerpro Inc., which does business as Sales Technology LLC, and owner George Kaltner, according to a news release.

The suit was filed after several complaints were filed with the attorney general's Consumer Protection Division.

According to Koster, the telemarketers called Missourians on the state's no-call list claiming the companies could lower their credit card interest rates or attempting to sell car warranties and health insurance.

With the suit, Koster is asking the court to prohibit the companies from calling consumers on the no-call list who have not already established business with the telemarketers. He also is seeking civil penalties for each violation of Missouri law and reimbursement of all investigation, prosecution and court costs.

Missourians can sign up for the state's no-call list by visiting the attorney general's Web site or by calling (866) 289-9633.
