Attorney general settles with telemarketer

Posted online
Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster yesterday reached a settlement with a Florida telemarketer following allegations that the company violated the state's no-call law.

In March, Koster filed suit against Innovative Wealth Builders, alleging it solicited Missourians who had placed their phone numbers on the state's no-call list. According to a news release, the solicitation calls were made with claims that Innovative Wealth Builders could lower credit card insurance rates or offer credit counseling services.

The settlement requires the Florida company to pay $36,000 in penalties and to abide by Missouri telemarketing laws.

“The attorney general’s office will continue to pursue companies that violate our telemarketing and phone solicitation laws,” Koster said in the release. “Missourians subscribe to our no-call list to avoid being harassed by telemarketers, and this office will aggressively enforce the law.”

Missourians can sign up for the no-call list by visiting the attorney general's website or by calling (866) 662-2551.
