AT&T upgrades 35 Springfield-area cell towers

Posted online
AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) recently wrapped upgrades to 35 Springfield-area cell towers.

The enhancements are designed to improve the company’s area 4G long-term evolution service by more than 30 percent in terms of reliability, coverage, speed and performance, according to a news release.

AT&T invested more than $70 million in the Springfield metro area 2013-15 on wireless and wired networks. In Missouri, investments totaled nearly $1.9 billion 2013-15. Spokeswoman Katie Nagus declined to disclose the company’s investment in the 35 cell towers upgraded during the first half of 2016.

Earlier this summer, AT&T announced the launch of internet service for the Springfield area for businesses.
