Dallas-based AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) is hiring 50 employees for its downtown call center.

The move to add U-verse service salespeople to the 600 St. Louis St. operation is part of a push to add roughly 230 employees in Missouri, according to a news release.

"In those parts of the business that are growing - mobile Internet, video, cloud services, mobile applications, retail and business sales - we are investing aggressively and adding jobs," spokeswoman Katie Nagus said via email.

The full-time jobs offer benefits such as health care, 401(k) matching, paid training and tuition reimbursement, the company said.

Last year, AT&T hired over 170 people in Springfield and 1,100 across Missouri. The company current employs 10,000 in the state.

The communications company is scheduled to release its fourth-quarter earnings report Jan. 27. For the third quarter ended Sept. 30, net income was $3 billion, down from $3.8 billion a year earlier, according to ATT.com.

As of 11:09 a.m., T shares were trading at $33.78, compared to a 52-week range of $31.74 to $37.48.[[In-content Ad]]
