AT&T expands high-speed Internet to 120 markets

Posted online
AT&T is now offering its fastest Internet service to all 120 markets already receiving its U-verse TV service.

U-verse High Speed Internet Max Turbo, which offers broadband speeds of up to 24 megabits per second, became available Monday to all markets that currently get the company's U-verse TV offering. The service is available to all U-verse residential and small business customers. Max Turbo customers also get access to any of AT&T's 20,000 WiFi hot spots nationwide.

U-verse uses existing fiber-optic lines to offer television services with a variety of additional features, including interactive weather, sports and traffic information and the ability to record up to four programs at a time.

The overall U-verse system had more than 2 million subscribers at the end of 2009, according to AT&T. Springfield joined the list of communities receiving U-verse March 22.

Max Turbo was launched in Austin, Texas, San Antonio and St. Louis in December 2009.
