Dallas-based AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) invested some $90 million 2010-13 in its Springfield-area infrastructure, the company said last week.
The Springfield-area investment included upgrades for residential and business customers, according to a news release.
During the four-year time frame, investments included:
- an April 2013 launch of its 4G long-term evolution service in the Springfield area and an expansion of its 4G LTE coverage in September;
- expanding its U-verse customer base by more than 15,000, with more than 300 business additions at 15 multitenant business buildings and business parks; and
- the addition of new cell sites, expanded wireless and wired network capacity and new broadband network connections.
“AT&T is investing in our Missouri networks because we know that people and businesses across the state increasingly depend on Internet connections for communication, entertainment and productivity at work, at home and everywhere in between," said John Sondag, president of AT&T Missouri, in the release. “From agriculture and health care to public safety and entrepreneurship, Missourians are using new products, services and technologies to transform their lives and revolutionize their businesses."
During the four-year period, AT&T invested some $2.55 billion in Missouri, according to the company.
On the heels of the release of the investment totals, the company also announced it plans to hire 30 for its Springfield call center, 600 E. St. Louis St., and six others for openings at its area retail stores and as technicians, according to a news release.
AT&T shares were trading at $32.35 as of 10:01 a.m., compared to a 52-week range of $31.74 to $39.[[In-content Ad]]
