AT&T cancels plans to offer in-flight Wi-Fi access

If in-flight Wi-Fi access seemed too good to be true, that’s because maybe it was.

Bloomberg reports AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) is scrapping its plans to introduce 4G LTE wireless Internet access on commercial flights to conserve cash as it expands internationally.

The second-biggest U.S. mobile-phone carrier aims to cut its capital expenditure budget for next year by 14 percent to about $18 billion, leaving no room for the new service.
