At least 18 people in the South were killed on Sunday and early Monday amid flash flood, tornado and thunderstorm warnings and watches.
Eleven of the deaths were in Mississippi. In Jefferson County, Arkansas, someone was killed when a tree fell on a house.
The storm system began moving toward the Northeast.
