The addition of 53,000 square feet at Associated Electric Cooperative Inc.’s Springfield campus is on track for completion in late September, according to Nancy Southworth, manager of corporate communications. The addition comprises two floors and a basement, with space for executive offices, engineers’ workstations and training and meeting rooms to accommodate roughly 188 employees and 26 interns and temporary staff members who work at the company’s Springfield headquarters. One floor will remain unfinished until it’s needed for growth, she added. The project is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Utilities Service and is designed to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-Silver certification, with features such as a cool white roof and use of regional and recycled materials.[[In-content Ad]]
