Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft announced he would not seek the GOP nomination for the Senate seat being vacated by Roy Blunt.
Ashcroft was seen as a likely frontrunner after Sen. Blunt's announcement on Monday that he wouldn’t seek a third term.
Ashcroft said in a statement that he "decided to remain devoted to the work Missouri voters have entrusted to me as secretary of state."
