Arkansas-based Arvest Bank has exceeded the goal of its annual 1 Million Meals campaign by raising 1.38 million meals systemwide.
In Springfield, 26,354 meals contributed to the total. Joplin Arvest branches provided 54,123 meals, according to a news release.
During the two month fundraiser, Arvest employees, customer and local residents made donations at Arvest branches to support 44 organizations feeding hungry people in Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas and Oklahoma. In Springfield, Joplin and Branson, Ozarks Food Harvest and Christian Action Ministries were chosen to receive funding and distribute the meals.
“We are so glad that through this campaign, Arvest was able to raise both food and money for people who are in need. We hope that with increased awareness about hunger in southwest Missouri, the community will continue to help throughout the year,” said Rodney Shepard, Arvest president in Springfield, in the release.
For the 1 Million Meals campaign, Arvest sought donations in each of its 90 communities, where bank officials say hunger is a primary concern.[[In-content Ad]]
