Artworx Salon receives award for interior design

Posted online

Artworx Salon DeCapelli, 938 E. Walnut St., has been presented with an Award of Merit in an interior design competition conducted by Modern Salon magazine. Owners Lauren and Robert Nava received an engraved lucite award and the honor of having the salon featured in the January 1999 issue of Modern Salon.

Artworx also represents the Springfield Finance & Development Corporation's first recipient of a gap loan. Artworx was able to open its doors and start styling hair as a result of its SFDC loan, said Lauren Nava, adding that the loan was critical.

"You get the financing to acquire the building and then you find yourself with no money for improvements and for the things you need to do to actually begin running the business. With this loan, we were able to go to work," Nava said.

SFDC announced May 25 that it will be issuing loans at rates below prime.
