Ongoing Exhibits
“AIDS Affects U.$. All,” photographs by Morgan Alexander, is on display through March 15 on the second level of Meyer Library on the Southwest Missouri State University campus. The exhibit features photographic documentation and narration of people from San Francisco, Mexico and Cuba who are experiencing the impact of AIDS in their communities.
“Centennial Art Exhibition,” featuring two- and three-dimensional artwork related to SMSU in celebration of the university’s centennial, continues until March 13 at Springfield Art Museum, 1111 E. Brookside.
Ceramic works by Yih-Wen Kuo and Keith Ekstam are on display at the SMSU Art & Design Gallery, 333 E. Walnut St., through March 23.
“The World of Kapla,” a traveling interactive exhibit that illuminates architecture, inspired art and 3-D problem-solving, continues until May 29 at Discovery Center of Springfield. Admission is $5 for children ages 3 to 12, $7 for adults and $6 for seniors.

Faculty/Student Early Music Recital begins at 8 p.m. in Ellis Recital Hall on the SMSU campus.

Civil War Roundtable of the Ozarks meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell. The presentation will be “Horrific Civil War Events in Missouri and Kansas,” by retired SMSU educator and roundtable member Hal Funk. Call (417) 887-7844 for more information.
“SMSU Women in Sports: A Century of Excellence,” a brown bag lunch presentation by Reba Sims and Martha Wilkerson, begins at noon in Plaster Student Union, Room 313, on the SMSU campus.

Chefs Center Stage, benefitting the Springfield Regional Opera, begins at 6:30 p.m. at Club Icon with the Tasting Buffet and Cocktail Hour, followed by the Fashion Show at 7:30 and the Live Chef Auction at 8 p.m. The event also features a silent auction and The Neighbors Band. “The Nina Variations,” presented by the SMSU theater and dance department, is performed at 7:30 p.m. March 10–11 and March 16-19; and at 2:30 p.m. March 13 and March 19–20 in the Craig Hall Balcony Theater on the SMSU campus. Tickets are $6 to $10 and may be purchased by calling (417) 836-SMSU.
SMSU Percussion Ensemble Concert begins at 8 p.m. in Ellis Recital Hall on the SMSU campus.
“Women of China: Yesterday and Today,” a talk by Yongxia Yang, University College visiting lecturer, is 3-5 p.m. in Plaster Student Union, Room 314.

Drury University hosts the eighth annual Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Conference and Faculty Conference on Interdisciplinary Research in Teaching in the Olin Room of the Olin Library. International Dance, a celebration of life and diversity presented by the Association of International Students at SMSU, begins at 7 p.m. at Hammons Student Center. Admission is free, but donations are being accepted and a bake sale will be held to raise funds for UNICEF’s Tsunami Relief Fund.
Landlord Training Program: Crime Free Multi-Housing Rental Property is 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at City Utilities Training Center Auditorium, 301 E. Central. The program is cosponsored by Urban Neighborhoods Alliance, Springfield Police Department, City Utilities, Caring Communities and the Springfield Apartment & Housing Association.
