Ark. Uber growth fueled by business travel

Posted online
National app-based ride-sharing service Uber has been steadily growing its business in Little Rock, Ark., and the northwest part of the state, according to Arkansas Business, which cited the company and a sampling of drivers.

Rides out of Bentonville, Ark. – the home to megaretailer Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT) – have doubled since the beginning of the year with drivers serving business travelers out of Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport. Though Uber representatives did not release hard numbers, they estimated 20 percent of its Arkansas riders are business travelers.

Several professionals told Arkansas Business they use Uber extensively on the road, which has led to more personal use in the Natural State. Beyond business travel, the company reports it is picking up more people from bars looking to avoid drinking and driving.
