Ark. governor-elect asks farmers to support $100M tax cut

The agriculture industry in the Natural State received its share of tax exemptions before. Now, Arkansas Gov.-elect Asa Hutchinson is asking farmers and others to support broad-based tax relief, according to The Associated Press.

A featured speaker Wednesday at the Arkansas Farm Bureau’s annual convention in Hot Springs, Hutchinson asked the state’s largest farming advocacy group to support his proposal to cut taxes for the middle class by $100 million.

The incoming Republican governor wants AFB to help fight for the income tax reduction when legislators convene next year. Hutchinson said he supports existing exemptions farmers receive on items such as feed and fertilizer, but but said broader tax relief is  needed.
