Ark. education board takes over Little Rock School District

The Arkansas Board of Education voted yesterday to take over the entire Little Rock School District, the state's largest, for the academic distress of six of the district's schools.

According to Arkansas Times, the school's superintendent, Dexter Suggs, was retained, but its board is gone.

The state last year classified an elementary school, two middle schools and three high schools as being in academic distress after fewer than half of the students scored at proficient levels on the tests.
