Cristina Fernández, vice president of Argentina, was convicted and sentenced for a $1 billion fraud scheme.
Fernández, who also previously served as president of the country, was ordered to spend six years in prison. She also received a lifetime ban from holding public office.
Fernández described herself as the victim of a “judicial mafia.”
