Area company creates ethanol-fueled motorcycle

Posted online
A southwest Missouri company is preparing to unveil the first American-made motorcycle to run on E-85 ethanol as well as gasoline.

American Green Holdings, based in Crane, will debut two of its new EcoOutlaw motorcycles at 4 p.m. Friday at Hammons Field, preceding the Springfield Cardinals game.

The renewable-energy-fueled bikes can run on E-85 ethanol or gasoline by using the Ethanol Reformer – the company’s patent-pending invention that changes how fuel is heated.

“By capturing the engine’s wasted heat energy that would otherwise be lost, we are able to harness an untapped power sources to dramatically increase vehicle power, performance and efficiency,” said Russel Gehrke, the company’s lead engineering specialist, in a news release.

The motorcycle, which retails for $39,999, lowers emissions and requires less fuel, according to the release.

Following Friday’s debut, American Green Holdings will participate in the Victory Motorcycles national sales meeting on July 21 in Nashville to discuss selling the bikes at Victory dealerships across the country.[[In-content Ad]]
