Olsson Associates is providing land surveying, civil and site engineering and water-resource engineering for a recreational trail and parking lot on Ozarks Technical Community College’s Richwood Valley campus. The trail will connect pedestrians and bicyclists from Fremont Road to State Highway 14, and provide OTC students and area residents with a place to exercise outdoors. The design of the project will cost roughly $43,000, with an estimated construction cost of $320,000, with funding from a Missouri Department of Transportation enhancement grant. The trail, which comprises 3,300 linear feet, crosses the Richwood branch of Finley River twice and travels along the natural terrain. A trailhead parking lot is included in the project. The lot is to be constructed of pervious concrete, which will enhance drainage. The driveway includes a natural vegetation bioswale, which will allow pollutants in storm-water runoff to naturally infiltrate the soil before the water leaves the site. Completion of the project is scheduled for April.
