Description: LaRose & Schober is the mechanical and electrical engineer for Umicore's 38,745-square-foot facility, which will produce a small piece for high-efficiency solar panels, which are used on satellites and other space objects, including NASA's Mars exploration rovers. Umicore is a materials technology group that focuses on advanced materials, precious metals products and catalysts, precious metals services, and zinc specialties. The company has industrial operations on all continents and employs roughly 15,000 people, according to www.umicore.com. Core Architects is the architect for the Solus facility. Clark, Richardson & Biskup Consulting Engineers Inc. is the process engineer, and Olsson Associates Inc. is the civil engineer. Completion is slated for 2010.
