Architect: Sapp Design Associates Architects PC

Posted online
Sapp Design Associates Architects PC is the architect for the emergency temporary location of the Joplin R-VIII School District’s Franklin Technology Center on 32nd Street. The previous center was destroyed in the May 22 tornado, but district officials vowed to get a new center up and running in time for the start of school on Aug. 17. Sapp Design, general contractor RE Smith Construction Co., structural engineer Toth & Associates Inc., and mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins Inc., worked with a team that included subcontractors and consultants to plan and construct the space in 63 days. The roughly $2.9 million project entails intensive renovation of 50,000 square feet of empty warehouse space to house the center’s administrative offices and technology-intensive teaching. Programs include welding, HVAC, auto collision and more.
