Architect: Sam A. Winn & Associates, Architects PC

Sam A. Winn & Associates is the architect for the Ava R-I School District’s performing arts center, which also will serve as a safe room that can withstand tornadoes up to category F4. The engineers are J.R. Haney & Associates, structural; Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins Inc., mechanical, electrical and plumbing; and Palmerton & Parrish Inc., civil. The auditorium will be equipped with theatrical seating, lighting, curtains and a state-of-the-art audiovisual system. The educational wing will house the district’s growing drama, vocal and instrumental music departments. The project, which costs an estimated $3.7 million, is scheduled for completion in July 2008.
