CBCO is set to take occupancy Friday of the former Summer Fresh store at 220 W. Plainview Road. Store owners David and Lesley Trottier agreed to sell the 54,000-square-foot building and its surrounding 9 acres when they learned it would be ideal for CBCO operations because of its ample parking, high visibility and refrigeration units.
About 12 design firms submitted proposals for the renovation project, which is slated for completion late next year.
The building will become CBCO’s base of operations, with administrative offices, lab and processing center, distribution center, mobile unit operations and donation center.
CBCO will continue to operate out of its current location at 2230 S. Glenstone Ave. until the new facility is finished, after which the organization will have a donation center at the Glenstone location.
CBCO Executive Director Don Thomson told Springfield Business Journal in October that the organization would use industrial revenue bonds to pay $4.5 million for the building and land, and the Trottier family would donate the difference between the purchase price and actual appraised value of the building.[[In-content Ad]]
