This 880-square-foot, two-bedroom home was designed by Paragon Architecture Inc. for New Orleans’ Broadmoor District for the U.S. Green Building Council Natural Talent Competition. The proposed design meets Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Homes-platinum standards, with LEED coordination by Anna Kangas. Design criteria includes an elevated living area, hurricane resistance and use of contextual materials for the area. Construction of the home is estimated at $99,000. Its design uses elements of typical shotgun homes, including a front porch that is an extension into the neighborhood. Energy- and water-saving features and a simplified structural system also are incorporated.[[In-content Ad]]
