Architect: Insight Design Architects LLC

Insight Design Architects LLC is the architect for Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World in Peoria, Ill., working under the direction of Bass Pro’s in-house designers, Tom Jowett and Bill Baunach. Mettemeyer Engineering LLC is the structural engineer. Virginia-based RB Lewis Ltd. is the mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer, and landscape design is by Atlanta-based RAA Design LLC. Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based Graycor Inc. is the general contractor for the roughly 150,000-square-foot store, which is slated for completion Sept. 22. The store is designed to celebrate the heritage of sporting and conservation in central Illinois. A clerestory diorama with buffalo, bears, geese, ducks and deer highlights the region and culminates with a two-story waterfall and aquarium feature. There also is Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl, a 12-lane bowling alley and restaurant.
