Horizontal slots of glass block, level with the height of the children, admits daylight into the space, and a large “picture window” will frame views of the landscape. A veil of corrugated metal wall panels provides a place for school-spirit banners. The addition is positioned with the existing building to define a three-sided courtyard, providing space for outdoor seating and maintaining daylight’s visibility in existing classrooms. The project, which has an estimated cost of $950,000, is scheduled for completion in August. The lender for the addition is Commerce Bank.
