Architect: Dake Wells Architecture

Posted online
Dake Wells Architecture is the architect for a project that would expand Missouri State University’s Baker Observatory near Marshfield. A general contractor, engineers, estimated cost, lender and timeline for completion have not yet been determined for the project, which would allow the school to grow its astronomy program and offer community outreach programs. With two existing telescopes on the site, the new facility would provide a large meeting room and research support facilities, and it is designed to someday accommodate a third telescope. The building has an exterior ramp that leads to a vegetated roof sloped toward the sky and designed to serve as an outdoor assembly space for nighttime stargazing.
