The Museum of Westward Expansion at the Gateway Arch is closing along with free admission to the national monument.

The St. Louis Business Journal reports that on Feb. 17 the museum will close to make way for new museum exhibits and visitor experiences as part of the CityArchRiver 2015 project.

“After nearly 40 years, it’s time to say goodbye to the Museum of Westward Expansion,” said Ann Honious, chief of museum services and interpretation at the Arch. “Although we are losing a St. Louis gem, we look forward to bringing visitors into the 21st century and are committed to continuing to tell the stories of westward expansion and the Gateway Arch in modern, engaging and compelling ways.”

On March 2, a tram ticket or an entry-only ticket will be required at the Arch. According to the report, entry-only tickets are $3 for those 16 and older; it is free for those younger than 16. Tram tickets will continue to cost $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3 to 15.
