Arch Coal lays off 80 at Colorado's largest coal mine

St. Louis-based Arch Coal Inc. is laying off 80 at the largest coal mine in Colorado.

The owner of West Elk coal mine in Gunnison County cited “continuing challenges” in U.S. and international coal markets.

Arch Coal filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January. In the filing, it reported a need to eliminate over $4.5 billion in debt.
