Applications accepted for Springfield government academy

Posted online
Springfield and Greene County residents can apply for the spring session of the Municipal Government Academy, a free 11-week program that educates participants on the structure and functions of city government.

The session will run March 6–May 22.

The first class, titled “An Evening with Your Mayor and City Council,” will be at 6:30 p.m. March 6 at Cooper Tennis Complex, 2331 E. Pythian. Dinner will be served.

All other classes will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays. There will be no class on March 27.

Participants will see presentations on various city departments and will tour city facilities. Once they have a better understanding of local government, the city encourages participants to take an active role by volunteering for boards and commissions.

To participate, call (417) 864-1037 or download an application from the city’s Web site at www.springfieldmogov.org/egov/academy.html.[[In-content Ad]]
