Apple's diverse emoji turn into aliens

Excited to text your friends Apple’s new line of diverse emoji? Make sure they’ve updated their phone as well or it could be an unearthing experience.

CNNMoney reports tapping and holding on an emoji person brings up the new skin-tone variations – six in all – so users can chose the one they like the most. But for those without the latest iOS 8.3. version, the new emoticon faces display as pictures of aliens instead.

Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: APPL) didn’t respond to CNNMoney’s request for comment.

The iOS 8.3 update is now available for iPhone, iPad and iPad Touch in the U.S. Other updates still are in the works.
