Applebee's announced plans to close 60 to 80 of its restaurants in 2018. That follows 99 closures in 2017.
IHOP, Applebee's sister brand, also plans to close 30 to 40 locations during 2018.
"The expected closures will be based on several criteria, including meeting our brand and image standards as well as operational results," officials with parent company Dine Brands said in a statement.

A safe room and classroom addition at Willard Central Elementary School will be used by the music, arts and athletic programs for a district that had 4,536 students last year, according to Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education figures, but school officials say enrollment is projected to grow.
