Apple ups China bet with first R&D center

Apple is betting bigger on China.

The tech giant plants to open its first research and development center in the country by the end of the year.

The center would combine Apple's "engineering and operations teams in China as we develop advanced technologies and services for our products," Apple officials said in a statement.
