Apple Inc. ( Nasdaq: AAPL) has unveiled its fifth generation iPad – the iPad Air.
Among its new features, the iPad Air will weigh 1 pound, down from 1.4 pounds. It's 20 percent thinner and 28 percent lighter than the current fourth-generation iPad, according to a report by CNN.
On sale Nov. 1 and ranging from $499 for the 16 gigabyte Wi-Fi-only model to $629 for the 16 GB 4G LTE model, the Cupertino, Calif.-based company said the new version will have the same 9.7-inch screen size as the current version.
During the Tuesday press event, Apple also unveiled a new version of the iPad mini, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. It also announced its OS X Mavericks operating system is now available for free download, according to the CNN report.
