Posted online
Demand outpaced supply on the first day folks could preorder Apple's new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. On Friday, a recorded 4 million of the smartphones were preordered, according to CNNMoney.

With the iPhone 6 selling out in a matter of hours, demand for the new phones exceeded the preorder supply, according to Apple. As a result, some buyers will have to wait until October to receive their phones.

Additional iPhone 6 and 6 Plus devices will be available to walk-in customers beginning at 8 a.m. Friday; eager buyers have already started camping outside of Apple stores, according to the report.
