Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) plans to use its own central processing units in Mac computers by 2020, phasing out the current CPU chips made by Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC), according to Bloomberg.
Currently, iPhones, iPads and Apple watches use Apple-designed processor technology. Apple officials declined to comment on the potential move.
On Wall Street, Intel shares dropped as much as 9.2 percent, the biggest single-day drop in more than two years.
