Apple and Google are working together on an app designed to track COVID-19.
Specifically, the technology would use Bluetooth signals to let people know whether they've come into close contact with a person who has tested positive for the virus. The app would require users to opt in to the technology.
The American Civil Liberties Union cautioned that using cellphone data to track the pandemic carries risks of "invasions of privacy, abuse and stigmatization."
