Apple chip supplier TSMC warned of a $255 million hit to revenue and shipment delays after a virus hit its factories over the weekend.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., the world’s largest contract chipmaker, announced parts of its major production facilities in Taiwan were closed because of the virus.
“This virus outbreak occurred due to misoperation during the software installation process for a new tool, which caused a virus to spread once the tool was connected to the company’s computer network,” TSMC officials said in a statement.
