Apple beats earnings predictions on strong iPhone sales

Apple reported fiscal fourth-quarter earnings of $11.1 billion, or $1.96 per share.

Revenue was $51.5 billion for the quarter ended Sept. 26.

Analysts had predicted earnings of $1.88 per share and revenue of $51.1 billion.

During the quarter, Apple sold nearly 50 million iPhones.
