Apple announces smart speaker

Apple is jumping into the smart speaker market.

The announcement yesterday kicked off the company's three-day developer conference in San Jose, California.

Dubbed the HomePod, the $349 speaker will be a direct competitor to products offered by Amazon and Google.

Apple also unveiled a new iMac Pro, among other announcements.
