Apple announces Oct. 16 event

Apple Inc. launched the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus less than a month ago, but the California company isn't done unveiling new products yet.

The company is planning an Oct. 16 event for the press. Last October, the company launched the iPad Mini and iPad Air during a similar event.

CNN reports Apple sent invitations to media members for Thursday under the headline, "It's been way too long."

Apple hasn't updated its desktop line since June 2013 and CNN insiders believe the line is next on the list.
