Max Lytle, executive director of the Taney County Board for the Developmentally Disabled, said that the board’s separate organization, Developmental Connections, received a $1.5 million Housing and Urban Development grant in October 2004 to construct the apartment units. The building, expected to be finished by February or March, is on nine acres next to Tantone Industries Inc., a sheltered workshop. Lytle said Tantone employs more than half of those applying for residency.
Jay McConnell Construction Inc., of Nixa, Kan., is the builder and the architect is ESC, Inc. Engineers and Architects of Springfield.
Lytle said a ground-breaking will be scheduled for later in September.
