Anthem named industry veteran Gail Boudreaux as its next CEO.
She'll succeed Joe Swedish, effective Nov. 20. Swedish, 66, will become executive chairman of the board until May 2018 and then work as a senior adviser through May 2020.
Boudreaux, 57, led Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois. Ten years ago, she was the second choice to become CEO of its parent, Health Care Service Corp.
