United Way of the Ozarks announced last night it has raised $3.46 million in its annual campaign, about $100,000 short of its goal.
The Nov. 29 campaign celebration marked the ceremonial end to the fundraiser, which began Aug. 18 at the
2011 Day of Caring.
“It was a challenging campaign, but I am always humbled by the people in this community who recognize our area’s critical needs and come through for those men, women and children who need help and assistance,” said Greg Burris, United Way campaign chairman and Springfield city manager, in a news release.
St. John's collected the highest total amount, $188,000 - a 4 percent increase from the company's 2010 campaign collection. Other collective donations included:
- City Utilities, $158,000;
- Missouri State University, $103,000;
- Kraft Foods, $63,000;
- Assemblies of God, $60,400;
