The third annual Dog Fest will take place at 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Saturday at the park, 2511 W. Republic. The event is hosted by the Springfield Citizens Dog Park Committee and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.
Festivities are free and open to the public, but all dogs must be leashed and have proof of vaccinations.
The day will be filled with games and dog-related demonstrations and information booths by area groups.
Dr. Bev Sherman will conduct a canine first aid seminar, and Missouri Disc Dogs will perform canine Frisbee tricks. The Ozark Correctional Center Canine will teach bloodhound tracking, and sheep-herding demonstrations also will be available.
The Dachshund Dash is back, and certification for canine good citizenship will be presented throughout the day.
Proceeds will be put toward a new off-leash dog park at Loren Park, 2100 W. Catalpa, to be maintained by the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.
