Five members of the Missouri House of Representatives, led by Rep. Ryan Silvey, R-Kansas City, and including Mark Wright, R-Springfield, had planned to stop in Springfield, Kansas City and St. Louis today. Those stops have been postponed indefinitely.
According to a news release from Silvey’s office, Blunt approached the legislators and asked for the opportunity to provide input on the proposed reforms. The group granted his request and will be meeting with Blunt to discuss their plans.
“While we recognize that the governor has made some changes to the process, we look forward to discussing with him our vision to fix a broken system and are hopeful that we can develop effective, substantive reforms that we can all agree on,” Silvey said in the release.
State Democrats have said the FBI is investigating the selection process and Blunt’s possible – and some say illegal – ties to it. Neither FBI representatives nor U.S. attorneys in the region have confirmed or denied an investigation.
